On Domaine Galouchey's one hectare slice of land, ten varieties are planted: mostly Merlot, but also Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere. Their vinification style is in their own words "inspired by Burgundy." That's a bold statement from someone in the center of Bordeaux!
The vineyard was planted in virgin soil and is farmed without herbicides, chemical fertilizers, or pesticides. The vines are now around fifteen years old. Harvest is manual and grapes are de-stemmed by hand and macerated in vats.
