Clos de l`Ecotard Saumur Blanc

  • Size: 2 ha (4.94 ac)

  • Variety: Chenin blanc

  • Vine Age: Planted from 2009 to 2013

  • Terroir: Clay-limestone with occasional outcrops of limestone bedrock, 8000 vines per hectare

  • Viticulture: Organic and biodynamic

  • Vinification: Fermentation begins in stainless steel tank, then moved to oak foudres (25 hL and 500 L) mid-way through. No malos, 9 months' aging in older oak barrels.

This parcel is completely plowed by horse (no tractor). The vines, rather than being trimmed at the top, are rolled.

  • Vine Age: Planted in 2011

  • Terroir: Sandy clay active limestone bedrock, 8000 vines per hectare

  • Viticulture: Organic and biodynamic

  • Vinification: Fermentation and 10 months' aging in oak foudre (25 hL). No malos, no racking.

This parcel is completely plowed by horse (no tractor), and natural grass growth is encouraged.

As this wine is a maturity-based selection of vines from the Clos de l'Ecotard, the total surface area and quantity produced vary each year depending on the vintage conditions.
